I'm having huge difficulties getting my Connect3D Radeon 9600 (256megs) working under ProMEPIS. I'm posting here because it too becomes Debian on a Hard-Drive install. The problem is that I cant get DRI to start. Here's what glxinfo outputs...

So I removed all the Nvidia drivers (hoping that it might have been them causing problems), but this had no effect.

So, I used the package utilities to install the proper driver versions for my kernel (2.6.7) and then I ran xf86config and fglrxconfig to set the whole thing up. However, when I log onto MEPIS, TuxRacer still runs painfully slowly and more powerful games like Neverwinter Nights cannot initialise graphics. What is going on here??!! I know i really should have bought NVidia, but unfortunately, I wasnt clued-up on Linux at that time....

Another angle of attack I tried, was to install GamesKnoppix. This worked brilliantly with all graphics hungry games, so I was all set up to install to HDD. HOWEVER... upon running sudo knoppix-installer or sudo knx2hd (the HDD install scripts), it returns a message that certian files could not be found and then it proceeds to start and infinite loop, displaying error messages which repeat over and over, unfortunately far too fast for me to read....

So what should I do now.... Any suggestions would be really appreciated! It's driving me crazy!
