When i boot from the cdrom drive...

when i boot from the KNOPPIX cd in my cdrom drive it boots from it fine. Then it auto configs my hardware. At the end of that process it says "Searching For Partitions And Creating" the cursur blinks most of the time. But it stops sometimes. Does that mean it froze?
Why would it freez and is there a way around it. I currently can not buy a new PC. So please help

There may be a hardware incompatibility.

From the bottom of the page linked above; "In case of a failing hardware autodetection, try booting with any of
the "no-" options as shown in the table above, like in
knoppix noagp noaudio noapm noapic acpi=off nodma nopcmcia noscsi nousb
to skip some critical parts of the autodetection system."
