trying to install knoppix on an old laptop (ACER Extensa 355 ) , it only has a floppy drive and a PCMCIA ( I thnk it's TI 1131 Cardbus controller ) cd-rom errors i get are :

cannot allocate resource region 1 of device 00:0c.0

then the welcome too knoppix line, then :
dropping to (very limited shell) ...etc

when i try mount it reports :

FAT: bogus logical sector size 5120
FAT: bogus logical sector size 5120
Kernel Panic:VFS: unable to mount root fs on 01:01

Please try

knoppix nopcmcia ide2=0x180,0x386

at the boot prompt. I tested it with Sony Vaio notebooks with external PCMCIA CD drive.

You could try booting in "expert" mode, it will ask you what should be loaded. I guess you will be asked some linux "inside" questions too, so...
...Could be helpfull, could be not.

You did press F2 to enter the cheatcodes I hope? :-)
