Hi,
Did you ever get the sound working on your system?
The output of your "lspci -v" looks exactly like mine, so I assume we have essentially the same computer (HP Media Center) and the same problem with the sound.
According to the HP website the soundcard is based on the Realtek ALC 880 chipset and the Realtek site has a driver for linux. But it is source code and I can't get it to compile.
Has anyone succeeded in getting the audio to work on an HP Media Center (especially the m1095c)??

I decided to abandon the whole linux venture. I have experience on mandrake, debian, slackware, damn small linux, ubuntu,
and many others.

I didn't det the soundcard working.

However realtek offers a linux driver on their site.
What I don't understand is why someone hasn't compiled it already.
plus, knoppix fucked up my harddrive. im lookin forward to the next knoppix release
