Hi,

Is there any way of booting to a Knoppix image on a USB storage device without direct BIOS usb-boot support. Could you perhaps use some kind of linux boot disk (with USB support), GRUB on a floppy, or perhaps Smart Bootmanager?

Does grub support USB devices?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Victor

PS: I did ask a similar question before, but I may have worded it a little unclearly - hopefuly this time it's a little easier to understand.

*shameless bump

Does anybody have any idea on using Grub/Smart Boot Manager to boot knoppix .iso from USB?

thanks,
Victor

you could likely use a CD or floppy for the actual boot.
then when you get acess to the drive pivot root with help of script/s to the USB device (or manually aswell, just not as easy/fast).
