is it possable to reinstall knoppix right over top of itself like you can do with windows to replce possabe missing files?

Yes. But if you think you had a bad installation the first time, check a couple of things so it doesn't happen again.


$ md5sum FILENAME
- compare it with what's on the download site. If they don't match, you got a bad download.

If the md5sum is correct, try burning another CD, maybe with a slower speed and with buffer under-run protection on.

Or maybe you upgraded some packages after the installation? Knoppix in't intended to be upgraded - it uses files from a mix of sources, carefully matched with each other to make sure they'll work together. Upgrading anything runs a big risk of making it not work with something else, and can cause errors that make you think stuff is missing.
