I just installed knoppix 3.7 on an old toshiba laptop (a Tecra 740CDT). Install sytle was begginer and all the other settings pretty normal.
The installed system booted up fine and came to the x login screen. Only the user account was listed, not root. I logged in, but after a while of thinking it just looped back to the login screen.
I tried "startx" after logging in on the command line and it chucked up a list of errors - again after a while. When I did "starx" as root (logged on on the command line) x started perfectly.
Is there any way I can fix this?
