I am using Internal Modem based on conexant chip set and it is not detected by Knoppix. This is preventing me to use Knoppix full time. I have switch from Red Hat to knoppix as i am facing severe crunch of hard disk space. I am forced to maintain Windows as second choice.
Can anybody help me with this so that i swithc completly to knoppix
:D

I don't beleive the conexant drivers are included. That's a winmodem right? Anyway, there is a varient of knoppix that somebody around here did , I think it was morphix, that did include the conexant drivers. Also, if you are talking about a hard-drive instal, you can get the drivers at www.linmodems.org

Have a look at this site
http://www.mbsi.ca/cnxtlindrv/index.html
theres a lot of information there. From what I understand there are two types of chipsets that conexant make, one is a controllerless one and the other is software driven. The site has a program that you can download and run to identify what sort of modem you have and download the appropriate set of drivers.
From what I understand there are good linux drivers for conexant modems, there just a bit fiddly more than anything.
By the way if it's an ADSL modem, this page is a good guide:

Hope this is of some help
