what about, either at some point of the hdinstall, or by menus after the installation, offering to remove some groups of applications?

they could be grouped by easy categories such as "internet server tools" (apache, ftpd, ssh-server?, mysql?, bind, and so) , "office applications"(all of them but vi :)~, "games"(all of them but fb =)) , etc...?

i had a little pain to make the hd-install to fit on some old 2Gb drive that's why i'm asking ;)

Yup, that would be nice. I think that, with maybe a dumby checklist, where you uncheck the things you don't want, and maybe you don't put things like VI (things a newbie would skip and regret later) and have things actegorized. Of course, this may be asking a bit much as hd-install was only an afterthought. The big thing I would like a is a brief dialog to help you set-up user acounts before installing instead of just coming in with root and knoppix. I know that's been suggested before. Maybe we'll see it in the next release of the hd-install script?
