Knoppix just saved me HOURS of work

hey everybody, i was so pleased with knoppix i just HAD to post this

basically, im a help desk guy. someone sent in their pc which was switching from bios to winxp splash to bios and would never get any further. thinking we had to reimage the pc, which we still do, but we were going to lose all the data on the drive, as according to symantec ghost it could not read the drive due to a cylinder head issue

for whatever reason, i chuck on knoppix. mounting the xp drive, i used samba to network between my pc and the stuffed pc and was able to recover all the users documents, and now am going to re-image the pc...

so just wanted to say to the guys who made knoppix.. you guys rule, great program, everybody should have a copy of this!

i know its kinda pointless, but godamn, it impressed me.

After screwing around trying to fix a WinBlows 2k install that botched the
hard drive SOOOOOO BAD that WinSnows couldn't repair the drive at all!

Fixed it with Knoppix, & then got on the web IMMEDIATELY with Knoppix!

We were all very impressed, it had been a royal pain to do it in WinGos.

Sounds like it's time for a dedicated install (grin). Guess what system Redmond use for their main gateways, iirc (hehe)
