installed knoppix to HD..some wierd problems. I use static IP address, which sticks, but my nameservers change with every reboot. Also I changed my graphics settings (refresh rate, etc) after install but these settings are always changed back upon reboot. My Nvidia drivers disappear. Other things, like personal settings for browser, etc., stay the way I left them. Am I missing something?

The Knoppix installer offers 3 kinds of installation: Debian-style; Beginner; and Knoppix-style. Both the "Beginner" and "Knoppix-style" installs use the Knoppix CD's hardware-detection scripts, which essentially recreate certain configuration files, like the one for X Windows, each time you start Knoppix. (More info is available on this site's Wiki.)

Your browser and GUI settings are kept in your home directory, which isn't touched during startup, so they don't change.

You may wish to do a Debian-style install instead.
