Hello Folks

My computer motherboard is ABIT AI7. This mobo has one netcard interface and also firewire. My ADSL MODEM is set to router. It is a Speedstream 5200.

Using Knoppix 3.8.1, booting CD, and entering a terminal console, I typed as a root user: ifconfig enter.
It shows me eth0 and lo (thinking it is localhost).

So far so good. One netcard and one eth0 using DHCP.

Just want to have it installed to my HD and issued a sudo knoppix-installer that installed without problems. Thinking that it would be good to have an internal IP assigned I called Network Card Configuration and is shows to me two interfaces: eth0 and eth1.

Which one is valid? Both? Should I let them set with DHCP? Considering that when running through a booting CD, only one eht0 was shown. What happened then?

Thanks.

Oh. now I see that it's another networking works fine from CD but fails after installing to HD post. I'll move it to the HDD install forum, they deal with these all of the time. You might want to read through the other posts in this forum or search them and see if any of the other responses match your problem.
