Gaim and amsn seem to have problems connecting??

Gaim keeps telling me my yahoo password is incorrect but it isn't and is very slow to connect if at all..same for msn connect..slow to connect that is ;-)
Amsn same problem as gaim but just for msn login of course :-)

I feel the connection isn't happening very smoothly...any ideas??
