how to install without a internal CD drive , using USB DVD R

Hi there, I really liked knoppix screens and wanted to try it out.. but here is the problem, My laptop Compaq Armada E500, doesnt have a CD drive, it stopped working all of a sudden. Although i do have a Floppy Drive on this thing, and i have an external USB DVD-RW drive. Is there any way i can make this work? thanks a lot...

If your laptop can boot from the USB-DVD drive, then yes.
Just put the knoppix CD into the drive and reboot.

Note that Knoppix v3.8 has some problems with USB. Try v3.7 instead. (with kernel 2.4, becasue kernel 2.6 has USB problems there too)
