ipconfig question/network commands help

Im new to Linux and i type the command ipconfig in the shell window but there is no command.
please give me links to any knoppix network commands etc

You likely want ifconfig for Linux rather than ipconfig. See man ifconfig for details. There are a number of commands that deal with networking, too much to list here. I take it you have not read the networking faq (http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Network_FAQ) yet (or you would have known about ifconfig), so that might be a good place to start.
