Problem with Promise card

I am trying to boot Knoppix 3.8.2 from a cd drive connected to a Promise Ultra 100 TX2 controller card. I have set the cd drive to be the first device booted in my bios but Knoppix won't boot and Windows goes on to be loaded from the hard drive. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

Have you tried the CD in another box? I'm trying to rule out a bad burn here................

Sorry should have said. The disc works fine in another machine. Thanks for the idea though.
