Hey all, i'm a newbie to linux and liked what i saw with knoppix. so i decided to install it onto my harddrive.
so I in stalled 3.8.1 and So far so good... It works... but for some reason, it keeps freezing for 20-40 secs. If i'm playing an mp3, the music pauses. The pauses are very intermittent. It can happen when I try to open any of the programs or sometimes when i just move the cursor over the "K" icon on the bottom left of the screen on the taskbar. On top of that, internet browsing is VERY slow (compared to when I was on win XP). It takes about 10-30 seconds to open the any browser and then even the loading various pages take a while.
Then I saw that Knoppix 3.8.2 was released. I ran that off the CD and runs so much faster. Only slight pauses here and there as I open programs. but nowhere near as long as before. Any thoughts on getting rid of the pauses and speeding up the internet?
