I have several machines, Windows, that need to have the data on the hard drives more seriously cleaned than just deleting the files and formatting it. I was told that you could write zeros or random numbers throughout the entire disk and that would normally be enough. That's perfect for me. How can I do this with Knoppix 3.8.1 ???

I have about 25 machines. So my thought is to boot with Knoppix, run a tool, turn off my computer and remove the CD. Then go to the next one.

Is there such a tool to do this?

Darik's Boot and Nuke

Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN") is a self-contained boot floppy or CDR that securely wipes the hard disks of most computers. DBAN will automatically and completely delete the contents of any hard disk that it can detect, which makes it an appropriate utility for bulk or emergency data destruction.
