is it? could i install it to the hard drive and boot from hard drive without having to repartition everything?

does the fact that i only have 512 ram have anything to do with it?

Knoppix does not run all that bad (IMHO) from a CD. Knoppix is "supposed" to run from the CD and does a good job of it.

Yes, hard drives are faster. But there are issues with "installing" Knoppix on a CD, which it was not designed to do. Some people do it anyway. In some cases it more or less works, but many people have a lot of problems.

There is an entire forum for discussing hdd install. (http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=5) This question belongs there, not here. Even better, you would learn a lot by reading through many of the existing posts in that forum rather than expecting peole to retype all of the information contained there.

only have 512 ram"only"? Knoppix works with 128MB, even 64...
