Hi

This problem I find really annoying.

I have a dual partition laptop with XP and Knoppix 3.8. I do not use internet with windows, only with knoppix. As it happens I do switch between the two relatively frequently. If I forget to connect the cat5 to the DHCP server at startup it will not reconnect to the internet if I reconnect the cable. When this happens the command ifconfig does not display eth0. It does see eth0 if the cable is connected at startup.

In order to connect to the internet I have to restart the machine has to be restarted with the DHCP server connected. Is there anyway of connecting to the internet without restarting the computer?

Thanks

Martin

Try: knoppix@3[knoppix]$ netcardconfig

or you would also use "pump -i eth0"
