wlanconfig parameters

Hi:
Im on 3.8.2, it works just fine, except that i dont kwnow the wlanconfig parameters for my atheros (ath0).
Im behind a linksys routrer 802.11b using dhcp
I run the wlancardconfig and it ask me for the parameters wich i dont know =(
can anyone help??

The parameters you must know are:

The IP address that you want to assign to your network card (also if your wlan router acts as DHCP server, start to assign a static IP to your card, of course in the same router's IP class, es. router 192.168.1.254/24, card 192.168.1.10/24)

ESSID or SSID (Service Set Identifier) --> the name of your wireless network.
This must be the same of the one that you find into your wlan router config.

The type of authentication (Open or Shared Key, it should be Open Authentication)
Use the same of your router

If you are using Wep encryption, you must put the same Wep Key in your wlan config.


PS: I usually use "Network Card Configuration" in the GUI interface
Put only parameters concerning IP, MASK, Gateway (your router's IP),DNS (a valid public DNS, as the one you use to go in internet), SSID and, if you use it, the WEP Key.
Leave all other parameters blank.
