Check out the book "Knoppix Hacks" from O'Reilly. It will tell you step by step how to do things with Knoppix and how to install it.[/i]

trying to open it with Xmine Media Player

for that video you postedFirst, if every newbie creates a new post with the subject line"NEW TO KNOPPIX PLEASE HELP!!!" then we would have tons of useless non-descriptive subject lines. These useless subjects would not only foul up the search engine but ultimately make the forums less helpful for newbies. A better subject line would be "remove windows and install knoppix" or "install knoppix over windows". In the future please READ FIRST. Search second. Then if necessary post a detailed question so that we can help you.

The video is in flash format. You will have to view it in Windows or find a way to install the flash player in Knoppix (not an easy thing to do). If you have difficulties running windows then again note that at the top of the page:
Home | About | Get Knoppix | Documentation (http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/) | Forum | Bugs | Contact | » Knopper.net | » Software Patentshas a link to the Documentation. In it is the hard drive install HOWTO. If you are ready then begin the HD install and post your detailed questions here.

If you can manage it, boot to windows & watch the video. If you can't, Is it possible to watch the video on someone else's PC? Then boot up knoppix on your pc and do:
sudo knoppix-installer

If you're browsing with firefox you should only need to click the video area and the flash player will install automagically. Ok, you need to press "Next" a couple of times.

I read all written upto here and didn't find answer. I have 250gb SATA disk. At the begin of the disk I have 125gb NTFS partition with XP. I want to make the rest 125gb on one ext3 partition. I have Konppix 3.9 on a cd. After it's load I pressed Ctrl - Alt - F2 and stated cfdisk. On the free space I created a new primary partition (I try with type 83 and with type 85). When I type "write", I receive error message "Illegal command" and "Toggle bootable flag of the current partition"! How can I solve this problem?

My next question is: If I desire to install knoppix on it (befor that i'll make swap partition) can I use both knoppix and windows? And is it a problem that the linux partition will not be first? (linux partitions will not be in first 8gb)
