new to knoppix

i have bought a new computer because my old one got messed up. i thought the harddrive was still good but it wasnt. it would not be read on my new PC. so i read that with this program i get my files. Now how would i go about doing this? Is there anyone who can guide me through each step?

First, if every newbie creates a new post with the subject line"new to knoppix" then we would have tons of useless non-descriptive subject lines. These useless subjects would not only foul up the search engine but ultimately make the forums less helpful for newbies. A better subject line would be "recover files from old hard drive".

i am sorry about my title. I agree with you. Well i found a site (http://www.shockfamily.net/cedric/knoppix/) that shows me how to rescue my files but i am not sure how to d/l knoppix and to get to use it to get my files. i will start a new post. that way it can have a better title
