When Knoppix V3.9 gets to desktop, I only have 640x480 desktop resolution with NO ability to resize on my Dell xxx desktop system with 3Mhz HyperThreading and 1GB RAM.

I have NOT found any parameters that changes this.

What should I be doing to resolve this?

Is resolution techniques for this common problem documented in any Knoppix text anywhere?

How about resolution to other common system problems?

How about Dell and Knoppix only forums?

thanks...george

It sounds like knoppix is doing the best it can at autodetecting the video hardware & getting it wrong. Try booting knoppix with some Cheat Codes (http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Cheat_Codes), such as:
knoppix screen=800x600 xvrefresh=60
knoppix screen=1024x768 xvrefresh=85

I hope this helps.

Had the same problem with my machine. Version 3.9 of Knoppix. I had to go into the BIOS and change the OnBoard Video Buffer from 1MB to 8MB.

1. Press F2 on start
2. Scroll down to Integrated Devices
3. Change Onboard Video Buffer to 8MB.

Hope this helps,
Troy

P.S. Now I just have to get my Sony USB DVD drive to be recognized and be able to burn. Anybody want to help with that one?
