Is it possible to do defragmentation on ext3. If yes, what software should i use if not, Why not??

Why defrag when you don't really get any fragmenting with ext3.
A filesystem check is done every n boots as specified in /etc/fstab but that's not a defrag as such.

In most cases it is not necessary. We are trained to think it is necessary because of the larage amount to time we have spent with Windows filesystems (FAT32, NTFS). Google ext3 & defrag for more info.
