USB Mouse & knoppix 3.6

I was given a USB Mouse as a gift but I don't know how to get it working in Knoppix. It appears that knoppix detects the USB mouse on bootup, Mouse begins to light during USB detection.

Am a bit new to knoppix so not sure what to do. If you could explain step by step.

I just looked at dmesg and it says the following about the USB Mouse:

hub.c: new USB device 00:07.2-1, assigned address 2
usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x45e/0x7d) is not claimed by any active driver.

i have not been able to get a mouse to work for the last few releases.

i've tried on my computer(wacom/usb), my daughters computer(PS/2 mouse), and my wifes laptop(compaq).

there must be a trick to it
