Did knoppix decided to discontinue gnome support?

There are conflicts between Gnome and KDE so its is either one or the other you can't install both. IIRC from the mailing list until Gnome sorts it out then it can not be included.

Is this gnome/kde conflict just with knoppix or all distros?

Did it start with a new release of gnome?

What is the nature of the conflict?
