Help with getting my mouse to work

I have the live cd and it boots fine when i get to the desktop my mouse doesnt work...I tried a standard ps2 mouse and a usb mouse and i dont have any mouse

What kind of mouse do you have? Is the mouse plugged in at boot time?

it is extrange, what I know is that since kernel 2.6 knoppix never detects my serial mouse

no problem with ps2 mouse
