c preprocessor /lib/cpp fails sanity check

Hello

I've installed Knoppix 4 DVD on my HD, everything went good so far, exept the Grub (tried 2 times, Knoppix could not boot, menu.lst was missing). After I've fixed that another problem appears. When I try to ./configure a source-package everytime a get an error reading: c preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check.
I've tried several things, linked gcc to 3.4 instead of 3.3 same for cpp. Maybe it has something to do with the kernel-headers?
Maybe someone can point me in the right direction, any suggestion will be appreciated.

I have similar problem. I also installed Knoppix 4.0 DVD to HDD (without any problem) then I tried to compile bioapi-1.2.2 (from http://www.qrivy.net/~michael/blua/bioapi/) and I got the same error (./configure --with-Qt-dir=no returned: c preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check)

I reinstalled knoppix to version 3.82 CD and everything worked fine.
