Would this be a good adition to knoppix? Either as an app or part of the install process ?

Sure would be nice. It would certainly simplify and even demistify partioning for alot of people.

It would be a really nice addition. It should be both an app and part of the install process. As an app you have a cd to resize, as part of the install you have an easy included option to resize then install in the script.

EADZ,

I'm really glad you suggested QTParted. I suggested it to Alex for inclusion some time ago. He liked it but would like to see a partition tool that doesn't depend on KDE for Morphix since KDE isn't on all versions of Morphix. This is quite understandable. Since both Knoppix and KnoppixKDE are more focused on KDE, I think this would be a great tool for either distros. It really makes a lot of sense to put this tool on a live CD. Basically If this works, then I won't need partition Magic anymore. I believe it can (nodestructively?) resize NTFS partitions too.

If at all possible, put this on the next release of KnoppixKDE.

Another reason is that i like to play around with building my own tools ;) (partition morpher is nearing a usable state). However, i second this, as if this wasn't based on QT i'd have included it weeks ago. Maybe you could team up with Christian (from knx-hdinstall), and make a version of knx-hdinstall that uses qtparted?

qtparted WILL be in the next knoppix, and be used by the new installer - but we need translatiuons for it - currently it exists in English, German, Italian and Spanish, so missing are:

French
Czech
Turkish
Dutch
Danish
Polish
Russian
Japanese

Hello ömer,

Thanks for offering your help. Knoppix.net is mostly a user based site geared toward giving and getting help with Knoppix and thinking about new ideas for Knoppix. Though some developers hang out here, you would probably be better off submitting fixes through the developers mailing list found here ('http://mailman.linuxtag.org/mailman/listinfo/debian-knoppix'). A Knoppix spin off which is looking for help is Morphix. You may want to visit the Morphix page ('http://www.morphix.org') as well. Bugs can be reported here ('http://www.knoppix.net/bugs').

We asked for help. And I'm really thankful that someone offers some. I think TheK by now will already ahve written a mail. It is mostly translation-work, that needs to be done at the moment.
