Hi,
I'm trying to get my old Pentium-100 boot with Knoppix 3.9. I know that the chances to see the KDE are low, but I want to have at least the bash.
I have a TR2 (MS5120 V1) Mainboard from Microstar inside, after updating the BIOS to the last version, that was published the CD is at least trying to boot, but it stops with folowing error:

isolinux: Loading spec packet failed, trying to wing it...
isolinux: Extremely broken BIOS detected, last ditch attempt with drive = FF
isolinux: Disk error 01, AX = 422F, drive FF

Any suggestions how to get it working? with changed BIOS settings perhaps?

if you are having trouble booting have a look at the Cheatcodes:Tips&Tricks (http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Cheat_Codes#Tips.26Tricks) for ideas on trouble shooting. Since you are on a P100, just try the commands with "debug" and let us know how far you get.

thanks for the answer, but the boot-process doesn't reach this point, where typing boot options could be possible...

There are a couple of reasons that you may not be getting to the boot screen:
1) bad burn
2) bad CDR media
3) incompatibility beetween CDR and CD-ROM
4) bad ISO
5) something else

The solution is to burn a new CD, slowly, using a verified ISO. Have a look at the Downloading FAQ (http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Downloading_FAQ) for more info.

Good luck and let us know how things go.

All of rwcitek's feedback is good. If it doesn't help you may wish to bypass your BIOS boot logic and use Smart Boot Manager (http://btmgr.webframe.org/).
