Patch on Kernel of Knoppix

Hi @ all.
Little question: Knoppix has altered the kernel with some patches?
For example, why after boot from CD, there aren't any log messages on screen? Only funny colored text...

Ok, I found some info in the linuxrc file :D
But I have other questions..
For example:

********** linuxrc ************
mount -t proc none /proc
mount -t devpts none /dev/pts
********** linuxrc ************

Those line. How can mount those file? When those directory are created?
