How about fixing the hdd-install so that if your partitioning scheme creates several mount points (hda1 has /boot, hda2 has swap, hda3 has /, etc), the installer recoginizes this and uses them? :)

This, instead of lumping everything under one partition. :x

Psi should be brought back. I have not used the Jabber plugin for Gaim, and was quite impressed. Until now, there hasn't even been a way to log in to alternative servers. This, however, does not mean they got it right. For all the things that can be done, there are some important ones that can't.

1) Server browsing is not implimented.
2) Even if you know the specifics of the agent you wish to register with, you can't.
3) Agents cannot be altered in any way (including removing an agent and the contacts associated with it).
4) The status of agents cannot be toggled (you cannot be logged in to Jabber, but have your agents offline, or decide that you want to get on ICQ at the moment, but want AIM off).
5) new account creation does not appear to exist.

There are more, but the point is it's fine to log in using Gaim for a little bit, but if a user wants to use any of the advanced features of Jabber, they're just out of luck. You can't even do searching for contacts with the JUD -- let alone searching through agents. Agent status isn't even displayed, so if something is wrong with an agent, you may not even know -- and you certianly can't do anything about it.

In short, it is a bad idea to remove the only true Jabber client from the distrib. (OK, many of these complaints are rendered moot for the live disk, since you're not expected to be doing anything with your account, but if it's _just_ a live disk, what is knx-hdinstall? Longer-term ideas are implimented, so the idea that one may wish to have some degree of control over their acct does not seem unreasonable (to me)).

Has this got the latest version of KDE in it? That would be 3.1.1a. This has several security and other bugfixes over 3.1.1.

How about updating Nessus from 1.2.7 to 2.04? 2.04 is a major version change. If this is done, please make sure to get 2.04 since 2.03 had a problem with zombie processes.

Well, I don't know what about 3.1 release? It seems to me that we hae a final (not a beta) release. Am I wrong?

Besides that, one more question - Is there any chance to see one of the releases with Gkrellm and Festival?

... They are all labelled as beta versions...

The "final" release will appear when there is a "final" release of GNU/Linux (which will probably mean the end of the world). ;-)

I have a trouble with reading my own configuration from floppy. It seems to that it try read cfg from floppy at time, when floppy isnt till mounted.

ie: knoppix=/mnt/auto/floppy raise /dev/auto: No such file or directory

this is in this new version also, (now i run older, also the same trouble), but interesting is,
that if i save my configuration on zip media so knoppix myconf=scan same as
knoppix myconf=/dev/sda4 so this configuration it finds. Rem: floppy working, its after KDE running
normally mounted. Tested on two computers, at home and in faculty.

Also agree with idea, pass knoppix myconfig=scan into default iso, where will be something like:

Trying to find personal configuration #1
Trying to find personal configuration #2
Trying to find personal configuration #3

without questioning if try again when not found. In fact for this, that it will be fully
automatized and start without user activity, with or without personal config, without
stopping in case that nothing were found.

Also thing, it will be beter to implement wheelmouse into default iso with cause, that can
be called knoppix nowheel if someone will have trouble with wheelmouse protocol.

Dont get me stone, if i said somewhere something not clear

some answers:

nessus2: debian/unstable has 2.0.1, no way to get a higher version. Why shoudl we upgrade?

xfree86 4.3.99: no, it's still a normal 4.3.0 and will stay for the next time.

for all the other version junkies: at first the apps need to be stable, features follow after that.

Fixed it isnt, probably cause of this, that for floppy is new syntax: in boot wirte knoppix floppyconf. This is working good, i have been succesfuly test this :-)

I deleted the Mozilla button from the panel, then added a button for VNC.

I saved the configuration using the menu option. I specified "Personal configuration" and "All files on the Desktop". I saved to floppy.

I rebooted the system, and specied "knoppix floppyconf" at the boot prompt.

According to the boot messages, it read the floppy okay. But my changes to the panel are lost.

Any ideas? Am I going about this wrong?
