I installed Knoppix 3.9 to my HD. Strange things keep happening. Whenever I turn on my computer, and knoppix boots, I eventualy get to the Knoppix splash screen, where it says what services are starting up, before KDE starts. However, strangely, the splash screen shows knoppix gets stuck on the second Icon (System Services). I can do nothing, to get into Knoppix. I am writing this from XP, due to the fact that Knoppix can't turn on. And have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and nothing changed. Has anyone experienced something similar or has an answere that will put me out of my mysery?

Thanx,
PanMan

Does the CD still boot and run properly? If so you can run that as intended. If not then you have something that you can investigate and resolve.

You could install Debian, the distro that Knoppix is based on that is intended for HD install.

You should read this (http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=87187#87187).

If you are enough of a Linux wizard to get past and fix the Knoppix install problems, good for you. But if it does what many of use expect a hard disk install to do and you, the person right in front of the computer, can't find the cause of the problems, then consider the advice that Knoppix wasn't really intended for hard disk install.

Have you even tried installing Debian, or is your choice to install Knoppix instead of Debian based on not having tried to install Debian?
