desktop background

i want to change my default knoppix backgroun i have tried to change it but of no luck. so can any please tell me all the information about how to do this.

The X background file is /cdrom/KNOPPIX/background.gif (in knopppix<=3.4 : background.jpg). If you want to change, it must 1024x768 pixel.
