Perhaps there's some driver that Knoppix is trying you use specifically for your ThinkPad and not the other computers you've booted from the 3.4 CD.

The laziest, least technical next step would be try a different version (KNOPPIX_V3.9-2005-05-27-EN). Sometimes newer versions solve all the conflicts, sometimes they cause more as support for older deviced gets left on the editing room floor.

One possibility is that there is a error on the disk (e.g. a scratch) and the other CD-ROMs can compensate but the TP 700 cannot. Also, have you tried any of the cheatcodes? In particular, have a look at the Tips&Tricks (http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Cheat_Codes#Tips.26Tricks) section.

So, try the cheatcodes. If that doesn't work, try burning a new CD using a slow speed, <8x. After that try the 3.8.2 version.

Be sure to let us know what you try and how it goes.
