crashing at boot up

my dvd installation seems to go ok right up to going into the main screen .after configuring hardware then goes black and turns off my monitor
any ideas anyone

It might be a good idea to note that there is a category in this forum that specifically deals with "Hardware and Booting" or "Hdd Install / Debian / Apt". Please do not start a new thread there, in addition to this post. It may be able to be moved to the correct category in order for you to get the right exposure for assistance.

If you are "Installing" Knoppix to the Hard Drive, you need to look in the category here that deals specifically with that subject. A search of the forum should provide a wealth of information about similar issues. If you are NOT "Installing" to a hard drive, the proper term would be "Booting".

In order for anyone to address your concern, you will have to provide specific information about your system, especially the manufacturer and model, if it is a commercially produced unit, the CPU type, Memory, motherboard, drives, drive controller types, and most importantly, details on your Video Card and Monitor.
