I had a defective hard drive and have just recently recieved a replacement. I attempted installing Windows XP, but for some unknown reason (even though it's a fairly scratchless disk) it will not install. So now I am going to download Windows XP, but Knoppix doesn't detect my hard drive. It is a Serial ATA hard drive, and I have the floppy disk that makes Windows XP recognize it when installing. Can someone help me make Knoppix detect the drive? Please note, I am new to Linux.

What version of Knoppix are you using? Also, have you checked your BIOS settings? It may be that your BIOS isn't configured properly to detect your HD.

BIOS is fine, Knoppix is v3.8.
