Just wondering if anyone can suggest any LAN party games that are easy to apt-get.

I already have bzflag, freecraft and quake. My students really like bzflag. Any other games like that around?

TIA,
AJG

Connect Four, named KWin4 - played this with two systems ( players ) - easy to setup, just give the IP addy for the server system.

Crack-Attack, same name - you need to look at the man pages for setting up the network connection - again, its a solo game, but, allows for a two player (networked) game as well.

Atlantik - its like a monopoly game, but, for the life of me, I havent been able to get it to work, it is only a network game, you have to set up the board, run a "server" program, and everyone "connects" to it, to play.

Battleship, named KBattleship - played either against the computer, or two player (networked) - see KWin4 above, sets up the same way.

Just a few,

Found another EXCELLENT "pac-man" clone game, called njam...

The game can be played solo, two player (on the same system), and up to four players (networked on a LAN, one taking the place as the server, or host, with up to three players "networked" to it, playing against each other and the "ghosts")

The game works great, comes with lots of "pre-made" levels that can be played on, a level editor, good graphics, good effects, great "pac-man" playing ( a very true to the real thing, clone ), and has network and solo "built in".

I have played this game, solo on both a 64 bit AMD running 1.8 GHZ, solo on a AMD 32 bit XP 1700+ running at 1.4 GHZ, and network played the two in combination with each other - the game speed, and play, is excellent...

If you enjoy Pac-Man, this is a recomendation, if you play network games, of the "old school" Atari type, this is ALSO a recomendation :D

Enjoy,
Ms. Cuddles

Doom 3 owns. UT2004 and GOTY are both ported, Quake 3 is great.

jump n bump is cute, especially when you have the "gore" enabled.

You play the part of a rabbit, from 2 to 4 players, your object, jump and land on your opponent - which, kills them, and gives you a point. within seconds, your opponent re-appears randomly within the play-field, ready to do the same. The game is cute, fun, but does get messy, considering the play-field, which you can choose from numerious mazes and scenes, gets cluttered from all the strewn gore from previously killed rabbits.

Sorry, I dont follow the other games people have been suggesting, if that is what you were looking for, again, sorry...
