How do i make my screen resolution bigger? I just ran Knoppix 4.0 off a DVD and the screen resolution is only 800x600, there is no option higher than that...how do i make it bigger. This is on my laptop

Thanks,

The default resolution has always been (I think) 1024x768. Are you sure it's 800x600?
If it is, can your laptop display actually show any larger resolution? You probably want to have it at your screen's native resolution. If there are no options that's a pretty good sign your laptop CAN'T display higher resolutions.

Supposing your laptop display can show higher resolutions (IF), the proper options at boot are (from the changelog, or even the F2 bootscreen)

knoppix screen=1024x768
or
knoppix screen=1400x1050
or
knoppix screen=1600x1200
(only if you have a really high resolution display, of course)
One of these should be typed at the boot prompt when it first says Knoppix.

Please note I haven't got a 4.0 DVD to try any of those on, but they worked in previous CD versions.

yeah, i checked the resolution and the max setting was 800x600

When i run Xp on my laptop the whole screen is filled up, with Knoppix the desktop is displayed in a much smaller box...which does not cover the whole screen...that is what i want to fix...

I find with a TFT screen the cheat code "fb1280x1024" or "fb1024x768" (depends on your screen's native resolution) is necessary. Even the 'Expert' mode didn't get it right.
