Hello, i got huge problem with my HD.
windows / knoppix dont regonize it cos it badly messed up,
only some dos recovery progs have show me something.
HD is Seagate SATA 200G. When starting Knoppix it usually
hangs ...
Scanning for harddisk partitions and creating /etc/fstab
... and when it dont, i cant c that drive.
So is there any low level programs that can be used
from Knoppix to find that drive from etc. SATA 1/2 slot and force
it to be mounted.
dd_rescue and dd_rhelp i know but are there
better programs, if i even manage to resolve that mounting issue first.

thank u in advance,
Lintu

Sounds like you need to get Spinrite. You can put it on a boot floppy and run it.

It sees any kind of drive no matter how it's formatted, DOS, Linux, NTFS, anything.

If the electro-mechanical integrity of the drive has not been compromised, and it is "only" the data on the disk that's been corrupted, Spinrite can probably recover it.

Good luck.
