Help - root-shell and su and sudo command do not work

I have installed knoppix 4.0.2 dvd and can not login to root. I have tried opening the root-shell but a dialog comes up asking for root password, I have also tried su or sudo but i get: "GameMage is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported." Is there any other ways of me getting into root?

Does just using 'su -' work?

When the boot: prompt comes up, start with ' linux init=/bin/sh ' and then when you get the command prompt, ' passwd root '
then immediately reboot.
