How to install 855resolution (please help me!)

Hi!

Unfortunately i am an absolute beginner when it comes to linux. Can someone give me a step by step explanation how to install 855resolution? I really want to see how linux looks like with 1400x1050 resolution. I am grateful for any help!

My system:
Knoppix 4.0.2. installed on hard drive
Acer Travelmate 662LCI
Native screen resolution 1400x1050

Well I installed the package of 855resolution on my system using kpackage. Installation worked fine. Then i tried to enter the commands into the root shell. first 855resolution -l which worked fine but it didnt show my standard resolution 1400x1050 for my notebook. Furthermore my x86config-4 is locked or something. when i trie to change it it tells me that saving is not possible. Cant give you the whole message cause its in german.

Need help please!!!
