A Problem occurs during start up

I am using IBMR51 laptop and KNOPPIX V4.0.2. During start up, whenever "ACPI bios found, Activating modules:" is displayed on the screen, there is no response from the laptop (Although the machine can display what I have typed).

Please help me to resolve the problem. Thanks a lot in advance

Knoppix boots with a splash screen. At that splash screen (http://shots.osdir.com/slideshows/slideshow.php?release=376&slide=1) you can enter codes which will force Knoppix to do certain things. Theses codes are known as Cheat Codes (http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Cheat_Codes). At that screen, type: knoppix noacpi

Thanks a lot,mate. But it looks that it doesn't work. could you please tell me whether the procedure of "Activating modules" takes a relatively long time even if I have typed "knoppix noacpi(+ENTER)". Cheers.
