i have 2 comps connected, linux one with eth0 and directly connected to the net and the other as a client , i have no idea on how to share files and internet connection.

for internet sharing you want to search this site (or google) for ip masquerading / NAT configuration.

for filesharing you want to search for ssh and samba.

yes i want both nat and smb file sharing, but i have no idea, i know the command


-t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE

but theres no rc.local to include it

Do yourself (and the rest of the Internet) a big favor and buy yourself a cheap router. Thay are often under $10 after rebate in the US, since they are not made here I expect that you can find similar prices if you shop around a bit. You avoid problems fighting with Windows (which really doesn't like Linux and seems to go out of it's way not to work with it), as well as having a true NAT firewall to keep hackers out of your windows system. And all the time you spend rebooting the windows box will not affect the Linux system when you use a router.
