APT Sources.list useage

Hi All,

Could someone give me some pointers on setting up the APT package to use known good sources so I can update/install my packages before remastering please?

I'm behind a proxy on port 8080 and I think this is part of the problem I have as I've had a look at configuring APT and I think it should work.

Anyone have any ideas/similar experince??

This is what I have in place and doesn't seem to work. I've tried several different ways to get this going and now think it's something to do with the sources.list file I have (the default one for knoppix).

Very long error message below :-)

I use on the command line:
"export http_proxy=http://user:passwd@proxy:port"
"export http_proxy=http://james01:secret@10.200.112.253:80"
"export ftp_proxy=http://james01:secret@10.200.112.253:80"

Then apt-get & aptitude & even synaptic work just fine.

I had been using the http_proxy incorrectly by doing

"export http_proxy=192.168.1.151:8080"

instead of
"export http_proxy=http://192.168.1.151:8080"

as provided by your good self.
