Hi folks,

Knoppix 4.0.2

Started init3 and then evoked X server. Created a bootfloppy with following steps;

KMenu --> Knoppix --> Utilities --> Create bootfloppy for Knoppix.

A bootfloppy was created successfully without complaint.

During booting;
.....
....
Kernel panic - not syncing : VFS : Unable to mount root fs on unknow - block (1:3)

It hung here. Please help. TIA

Hi Harry,

Tks for your advice.

That boot floppy is bogus.
I created several sets of bootfloppy before and after posting, at finish "successful" notice popup and without complaint during their creating. The first bootfloppy of each set always hung on;

Kernel panic - not syncing : VFS : unable to mount root fs on unknown - blcok (1,3)

Also tried preformating the floppy with
# fdformat /dev/fd0u1760

still no breakthrough

Knoppix LiveCD worked without problem on PC with CDRom booting function.

I also created the bootfloppy on another Linux PC to check whether the problem coming from the floppy drive.

I wonder whether I did not use correctly the procedure of;
KMenu --> Knoppix --> Utilities --> Create bootfloppy for Knoppix

Any suggestion. TIA
