getting on the net

im a noob to this so you'll have to bare with me. How do i get my modem up and running on knopix?

I have the cd for windows which works fine but i want to connect using knoppix

is it an external modem?
If external is it serial or USB.
If internal is it ISA or PCI or pcimcia?
what name, what chipset.
the comand

sudo lspci
typed in a console (virtual terminal, aterm, xterm, konsole...)might help with the chipset.
