Greetings! I have a Knoppix CD. I use this on a Compaq laptop computer which is three years old with 384 MB memory and one Gigahertz CPU. I have few questions about Knoppix -

[a] How do one connects to Firefox or the brower comes with Knoppix? I have no problem in connecting to Firefox when I use Windows XP.

[b] How do I save a file in the wordprocessing program like the one comes with Openoffice?

[c] How do I reduce the movement of curser? It seems the curser moves very fast when I want to move the curser with the help of the touchpad. The curser does not move the so fast when I use Windows XP with help of touchpad.

With thanks.

OK, we may have a bit of a language problem here. Curiously, you are posting from Mississippi! But even though I'm not quite sure of what you are asking I'll try to help.

There are several browers included with Knoppix. You didn't bother to mention which version of Knoppix that you are using, so I'll give you a simple answer that works for all versions. That window that opens when Knoppix boots that includes information about Knoppix is called Knoquror and it is one of the browsers available. You can type a url into the address window in Konquror to browse the web.

If what you are really asking is how to set your computer up on the Internet, then please see my generic answers number 3 and number 4 (http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/User:Harry_Kuhman).

If as seems likely your entire disk is formatted for XP with an NTFS partition, then you save to floppy, use a USB flash drive, use another hard drive, e-mail the file to yourself or use any of several other techniques that people have used to save files, since you can not write to an NTFS partition with your copy of Knoppix. Of course there are other solutions, including reinstalling XP with one or more FAT partitions, or even just ditching Xp and installing a version of Linux like Debian. I created a FAT partition on my notebook so that I could run both Xp and Knoppix and share files between them. How you choose to approach the NTFS issue is up to you.

For your internet connection problem, if it work with Konqueror,
try about:config in fire fox (in place of an internet adresse),
search for the entry network.dns.disableIPv6
right clic toogle

It should work...
