Newbie needs help: becuase of confusion and a typing error, I stupidly did
mkswap /dev/hda7

instead of mkswap /dev/hda8

But hda7 is where my data is! I realised immediately, but can't undo the swap. What should I do? I don't want to lose the data on hda7!

Grateful for help

Richard

First, DO NOT START KNOPPIX (or any linux) WITHOUT "noswap" BOOTCODE.
If you need to restart Knoppix on this computer, remember to use "noswap" bootcode, or you will start losing some data.

Sorry, that I can't help more, but hopefully someone else knows how to actually restore the data.
